Axle back exhaust would be only from the axles back. Cat-back exhaust runs from the headers/cat (in our case) all the way back. If you get the cat-back your replacing all your exhaust piping where as the axle back is just replace from the reat axle's back.

Yeah, the axle-backs only replace the muffler and exhaust tips.

think of it this way...

cat back = CATalytic converter to the back of the exhaust.

axle back= from the rear AXLE to the back of the exhaust.

this meaning escaped me for years until I found out what a catalytic converter was, then I was like ohhh, now I get it...

ok, well for the other 99% of us that didn't know what a catalytic coverter was at the age of 15, i think its a pretty reasonable question!

haha basically. a little thread jacking herebut there was a thread about borla and they claimed that the performance gains were the same in the axle back system and the cat back system?does that make sense?? i feel like i would want a cat-back, reason being is that i feel the more after market parts in the car for performance is better......did that make sense?
