I know we don't have silvias in the U.S, but with the equivalent. The 95-98 model 240sx is a silvia s14 in Japan right? What about older gen 240sx?

I know I want a 95up 240sx, and soon with a sr20det. Are all S13, S14, S15 harness wiring the same? I dunno, help me out, i'm bored. Thanks

The 1989-1994 240SX in America is the chassis equivilant of the Silvia S13 in Japan. Unfortunately all the wiring harnesses are different depending on the chassis code, so an S13 harness onto an S14 wont work.

modify it? you mean splicing? what about the ecu? if you can't use the harness, you need to some ecu plugs changing sh*t right? so 89-94 has s13 harness while 95 up has s14? what about s15 or is that in japan only?

S15 is only in Japan and chances are if you get that engine you'll have to get the S15 harness. The 1994-98 S13 180SX Blacktops use a different harness from the other S13 SR's I believe. Though im not positive. I know the ECU's are different at least.

All of the engines use different harness wiring. S13, S14, and S15, they don't interchange ( the whole harness that is ).

Yes and the ECU's are different between the S13 redtops and blacktops.

SO to put a S13 Redtop in to a 95 S14 requires a bit more work.

if you have a compleate wiring harness though, couldent you just take out the old one, feed the new one hook it up to the engine, and to the new ecu and have a fully funtional car? basicly why isnt this plug and play if its a new harness for the right engine and right ecu??

Wiper motors, A/C, etc. Just little things. Basically the swap should be about 80% plug and play for someone who doesn't know what they are doing. Also, the harness was made to fit right hand drive cars. That means the japanese harness is somewhat "backwards". So to fix this invovles cutting and extending many wires. The misc. things invovle slightly different pins that need to be switched around and swapping out connector heads from USDM harness to the JDM one.
