There are 2 OEM RB30s. RB30e and Rb30Et. The RB30et is a SOHC turbo engine. The RB30e is NA. Check this page for more info on these motors.http://www.meggala.com/nissanrb3css.htm

YOU NEED TO USE A DOHC HEAD AND RB30 BLOCK TO BUILD A RB30DE OR DET IT IS ALOT OF CUSTOM WORK BUT THE POWER RESULTS IN THE END ARE TREMENDOUS. ITS NOT A FEAT FOR THE GUY JUST JUMPING INTO THE RB SCENE.

Do you know of a site that outlines this hybrid motor?

Have you by chance compared the cost/power of the frank motor to the rb26dett, or is that apple to oranges?

Nice site.

RB36? THERE IS A RB36?

IF YOU MEAN RB26 THEN YEAH.

RB25 HEAD AND MANIFOLDS/TURBO/ETC. $700 SHIPPED RB30E BLOCK $780 SHIPPEDRB25 transmission $1000RB25 WIRING HARNESS AND ECU $200MISC. $1500+

SO YEAH AT 400+ FT/LBS OF TQ AND 400+ HP IT IS COST EFFECTIVE TO GO THIS ROUTE.

Yep, sorry. I mean 26.

So you use the 25de(N/A) head and the manifolds and turbo of a 25det, or is it the complete det top end? Although it says they use an rb20 turbo mani. It says that the 30 has a higher deck height so I wonder how this will work in an s13 with McKinney mounts, as far as hood clearance. This really intrigues me.

Is this what your plans are right now, the rb30det?

I THINK IT SHOULD WORK WITH THOSE MOUNTSYOU CAN USE THE RB25DE HEAD OR THE DET BUT I DON'T LIKE VVT SO I'M GOING TO HOPEFULLY GET A NON VVT HEAD. THE RB20 AND RB25 EXHAUST IS THE SAME.

YEAH I GOT THE RB20 COMPLETED NOW I WANT MORE POWER AND I WANT BETTER POTENTIAL SO WHY NOT UPGRADE TO 3L THEN BUILD IT UP TO A 3.3L.

HP is cool and all but getting tracion will not be easy with that kind of power. This is where the AWD transmission comes into play. You'll be buring through alot of rubber without a TCS or AWD. BTW do any RB240s have a TCS.

Thats why they make big arse slicks for the track and big arse drag radials for the street. ;)

I'M GOING TO BEEF UP THE DRIVETRAIN QUITE A BIT AND THEN SLICKS WILL GO ON. I HAVE A SHOP THAT WILL BUILD ME ONE PIECE DRIVESHAFTS AND SOLID CV AXLES FOR REASONABLE. I'M ACTUALLY LOOKING AT GETTING A KAAZ 2-WAY OR A QUIFFE (SP?). ANYWAY YES TRACTION IS A CONSERN FOR MY AND AS FAR AS I KNOW THERE ARE NO TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEMS IN 240S. I'M ACTUALLY LOOKING INTO AWD CONVERSION BUT THAT WILL BE DOWN THE ROAD QUITE A BIT.

And what engine management? Plus tuning.

I think it's a waste of time and money. Get a big turbo on an RB26 and some engine management and you'll have the same power without all the hassle of building a rare hybrid motor that'll likely turn out unreliable and hard to manage.

TDS, there's no RB36.
