I'm looking at purchasing a '97 Q45 and it has a metallic purple paint. I've seen the more common black, silver, and white but this is the first. Just wondering how rare this color is??? Thanks in advance.

My guess is that it is an aftermarket paint job? Might be worth getting the paint code to check... There was a color in the 94-96(?) Q that could be described as a grey-ish purple. I don't remember the name of it - but I can't recall ever seeing it in the 97 or later model run.

It's definitely NOT aftermarket. I will try to get the paint code. Anyone else "chime" in?

This code listing for '97 Q45s shows a "Dark Red Purple", code #LP2.

I think Infiniti called it "Mulberry Pearl" in the 94-96 series - a dark metallic purplish color. It wasn't very common on that series and I don't think I've ever seen a '97 in that color.

It's one of my favorite colors for the Q45 - along with Silver, and Ivory Pearl.

That 94-96 color is the color of my car. Cabernet Pearl. I don't know the color code. I like it. You don't see it much. Sorry for the bad pic. It's the only pic that I have that don't make the car look black.

Nice! That's the color but I guess on the '97 up it's called the "dark-red purple" according 96QOwner. Thanks for posting a pic of your car.

No, I think Louie has to be correct. Infiniti called it "Cabernet Pearl". Dark red purple was just the paint company's description.

Nice looking Q, Louie! I love the way the DP0 (Green) and the Cabernet go to black in diffuse lighting. I almost went with the 20-slots, myself, but decided to put another set of 15" tires on my turbines instead, and wait to go to 17's.
