:dunce <--- when it comes to sports car suspension, and yes I did a search but I just got a bunch of information on wheel selection. The car I went to go look at was odd when it came to the trim level (S14A). The guy told me it was an LE but it had no sunroof, no leather, and it had black face guages. I forgot to take a look at the wheels and am not sure if they were 4 or 5 lug. So my question to any suspension experts is this: should finding out that it is 4 lug possibly deter me from purchasing the car? Is it that major of a deal or is it as simple as choosing between black and wood grain dash? Thanks.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure all the suspension is the same with either 4 or 5 lugs. The differences are going to be wheel selection, brake selection, and if the car has an LSD. I think the LEs had LSDs (am I right or wrong... it feels really wrong). If the car doesn't have Leather, its not an LE, don't pay LE price. I wouldn't be too concerned about 4 lugs, 5 can be nice, just a little easier, but not something to worry about. I also think 5 lug conversions are a waste of time and money... again, just my opinion.

Actually I think it can only have an LSD if it is an SE or an LE and has ABS. As for the sunroof I am pretty sure that makes it not an LE. I mentioned the guages because I thought that all S14A SEs had white guages. I was just kinda posting that information to see if anyone could determine if it were 4 or 5 lug based on that before I looked at again/bought the car. But what I was asking with the 4/5 lug was if the difference made a large difference in torque (may be stupid but what I heard) and the breaking power of the car.

Thank you sir. What about the dependability of the rear suspension, are any parts more willing to break due to the 4-lug?

You want LSD since your building a turbo Matt. Unless you want serious traction issues.

And one more thing (I did 4 searches and it was NOT listed!) how the hell much is a (generally) 4 to 5 lug conversion on an S14?

Who DOESN'T want traction issues??

Really though the price can range, you can probably get it done for 600/700, but can get well over 1000 depending on wheels, pads, new/used hubs. It all depends really.
