Found a 1992 Q45 today for $800. Hopefully this experience ends well as its my first import, ever. Ive had 11 cars, all domestic.
Inspected 3 days ago, brand new tires. Only issue is hole in muffler and front seats are thrashed according to the lady. The run down is as follows!

Car runs great.
great transmition .
engine runs great.
206,519mile.--------------v
(Should I be concerned with this? I read all the stickies and know what to look for otherwise, but dont see many posts on what the longevity of these cars is)

new tires.
front seats are not in good condition.
sunroof.

Look up what those center caps on the wheels are going for on ebay and compare that to total investment lol. But its all about $ to get it operating 100% and i am truly a noob too just paying 1500 for a pearl white jewel myself. Good luck to ya. I bought custom leatherette seat covers and they look great fyi. Read up on the many many mech info threads as you will need them!

Yep - For 800 bucks, you're golden if it gives you just a couple more years of driving enjoyment...

The timing chain guides are a HUGE unknown - If they haven't been upgraded yet, you're living on borrowed time.

BTW - Welcome to the forums, both of y'all!

I'm going to be calling them shortly to get the VIN. I'll be contacting the local dealership to see what all I can find out about the car.

If you don't have a relationship with the service manager, you might have to get the owner to request a print out of the service history.

You do need to read more as you will need a cash kitty of about $5K to rehabilitate the deferred maintenance to make the car reliable and safe. If it has been kept up, it should go 350K mile after rehabilitation.

Quite frankly, she should pay you to take it.

They were running regular in it, and beating the crap out of it. TCS didn't work, needed brakes, exhaust and new engine. It clacked like a train on railroad tracks.

I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye out for another. Especially since I know what they're capable of, and got to actually drive one. Despite the issues it still rode well, and the seats were worn but comfortable.
