im actually working on that project right now....its my first time using fiberglass...but ill be sure to keep you guys posted on how it goesive already made the mold for the left corner..turned out pretty well.. fits pretty well(snug) except for one corner..but hey its my first time..ill post pics soon..otherwise if you expecting to do this, get ready to pay $$ its already cost me about $90, and im not even half way done..

but here is one of the many sites i used as a guideline http://www.geocities.com/fiber....html

Glassing isn't that hard in concept. However, doing a good job requires a good technique. I'm happy with how mine turned out (first attempt at glassing), but I definitely think I could do a better job if I were to do it again. I think it's definitely one of those things that you get better at with experience. All I can say is take your time and make sure you do it as best you can. Keep us posted!

im extremely busy with school right now, sat. next weekend and lacrosse games/ practicebut as of now im waiting on a 12" MDF ring to come in the mail, should be here sometime this weekso il start applying the fabric/ resin this weekend hopefully

compared to apple's enclosure, mine seems a bit smaller, it doesn't jut out as much as his at all, its more so in that cubby, and im not sure how i should mount the sub...at least i haven't decided so any suggestions are welcome

sorry i dont have pics.. my box is at a friends house right now

but do you guys suggest i try and make it bigger?im trying to save room in my trunk, because i do use it a lotbut its all up in the air right now

Easiest solution: cut your own. It's really not that hard. That way you can make sure the size is prefect for your individual sub.

so sorry about not updating this in awhile, its been raining and cold in nc for awhile so i haven't been able to work on my enclosure that much, and as i said before school/ sports is hectic right now, but just to let you guys know today i basically finished my box , im not gonna lie i rushed it a bit, and the speaker kinda sits weird and there are some imperfections, but nonetheless its my first time so thats how it goes right? but i thinks fits/ looks pretty welllbut anyways all that is left to do now is sand and paint and sadly my camera is broken ..so i was not able to take pictures, but ill try and see what i can do about that cuz ya know threads sucks w/o pics

but just wanted to let you guys know i havent abandoned this thread and ill be sure to get those pics soonoh and if you guy need any help or advice on building a box, il be glad to help and tell you my mistakes and what all ive learned

so here it is soo far..bad quality like i said my cameras broken so i had to use a camera phonebut anyways i have some minor flaws, if you tell it is not sitting flush with the floor of my car at the front of the enclosure..that can be easily fixed with more fiber glass resin etc.., and also there is a gap near the top of it(which u cant see unless u look very close) ....but it also be easily fixed/ there is a huge lump that needs to be sanded down at the front...and they biggest mistake i made was the top of my enclosure is 2 inches away from the patted area that protects the stock speakers in the trunk...but its not really that big of an issue, and it looks worse in the pic, cuz the patted enclose it hanging by two screws(i was in the process of taking it off).... and yes i meant to have ripples in my sub encloser..i did this by using sticks that were hot glued in...i thought it looked coool and also it looks very ruff due to the fact i have a lot of sanding to do, because im going to paint my enclosure instead of carpet it

but note to everyone..dont take out your initial mold out before it is completely dry... this is an obvious mistake...but i made it because i was in a rush..and the resin made my car smell, so i wanted it out ( cuz ya know the fumes are bad for ya)

oh and my box turned out to be a bit larger than i wanted..but from reading online specks for my sub, i wanted to make sure i wouldnt blow out my sub by having too little room..im not a expert on the depth etc that it needed to be, but wanted to be safer than sorry

Looks good so far. It's kind of hard to imagine what the finished product looks like for some people, but I think it'll turn out for you.

Couple things, the smell will eventually leave the car. It took about a week or so for me I think.

What the excursion like on your sub? I'm wondering if it's going to be hitting the cover over the rear 6x9 back there. Can't really tell from the pic.
