NOOb 2004 g35 entering limp mode upon start up

Hello,

Just picked up this unit for my son with 166K on the clock.

first couple of days, no issues. drove around 70 miles, backroads and highway no stalling,

now it is entering limp mode upon start up. first couple of times a simple restart would allow normal operation, this evening i had to restart about five times to get it to roll down the road.

i have read a few posts concerning this so far and will continue to search.

any links are welcome.

have to go back and get the codes.

any ideas on a budget scanner? the dealership is not going to see this car again unless there are some recalls that have not been applied

also is there a list of what all the abbreviations used mean?

as in CEL check engine light. i am not familiar N00ber
