I just replaced my Die Easy battery after it died suddently at 1:30 AM in my driveway. Went for the Optima Redtop with 3 year replcement/ year 3-6 prorated guarantee. Don't think I saved any weight. Noticed battery cover is a Nissan OEM part. I think most get tossed.

Anyway, I was surprised after I installed it that while my radio presets and trip odometer were lost, all the seat, steering wheel, side mirror and remote presets were retained.

So, are these stored in non-volatile memory on the later ones?

Yep all that stuff is lost, and thats the way it is on most newer cars as well!!! I dont know specifically on newer Qs but I bet its the same... I thought that my memory seat positions were lost, maybe not...

When dealers do that they have a little thing they plug into the cig lighter (I think) so that owners dont lose all their presets.

Having a small 10-year lifetime Lithium battery inside some of the various gadgets (radio, clock, etc.) would make too much sense for car manufacturers, I think!

Interesting about the mirror and seats. I had not noticed that per se ... I did replace the battery on the 1995 Q45 I had, but don't recall if I lost the seat or steering wheel settings.

I didn't lose mine.

And I've had the battery out before.

I was surprised given the TSB for how to reset the memories and reassociate the remotes.

Must apply to earlier ones.

I bought a Kodak digital a couple of months ago & later a card reader so I never connect the camera thru the usb anymore. (I luv the camera but hate kodak software!)

When I charged the battery the camera sat for several hrs with no pwr. I was surprised to find that all the settings were still there, AND the time was correct! I think it has one of the new tiny Farad size cap to avoid losing time etc while battery is out.
