First I'd like to say hello and that I am new to NICO. Actually I'm new to the car game in general. I am building a 1990 240 that will receive a vh45de. Regardless, I have run into two interior issues that I need some guidance on. I'm big! 6’2" and 320lbs. My seat doesn't hold me at all, my shoulder blades sit over the sides of my seat, and my head is about a inch from the ceiling. With that being said I need help finding a seat and rails. I have read about Celica seats but before going to the junkyard I thought id ask if anyone else has dealt with this issue or heard of any other seats that fit. In conclusion id like to keep my center console unless there is some hidden secret aftermarket or swap center console that fits and looks better. Sorry this is lengthy but I thought I'd be specific. Thanks :bigthumb:

I just bought a Racetech 4009w seat and I fit in it, and I'm 6'4" 315lb. I haven't put it in the car just yet, but I know it fits the car as well (I've seen others with it). When I get the seat brackets for it, I can update this post, but it may be a little while, ha ha. I know the Sparco Evo XL seat does not fit the car (does fit me) and the Evo L fits the car, but not me. Other than factory S14 seats that I currently have, I honestly don't have any other experience with seats, lol. Hope what little seat experience I do have helps! Maybe someone else can chime in as well.

LOL. what the heck are you guys doing with 240s? You guys should be in Z's or something haha. Even with low rails and a bucket seat, I'd imagine you'd guys would have a hard time with wearing a helmet. haha

anyways, Bride, Nagaisa, Buddy Club are a few companies that make seat rails. Bride fg and nagaisa super low rail are arguably the lowest rails for aftermarket seats. When you choose seats, make sure you get side mounted type seats. Trust me. Seats like Sparco Sprint are bottom mounted and will require bottom mount rails and will sit similarly to stock seats. For sure you won't be able to fit a helmet on, unless of course you have a vert.

+1 on the side mount seats. I'm 6'1, and with where I have my (oem) seat set, I just barely clear the headliner. I tried a bottom mount seat and rails, and it was waaaay way too high. Tossed the oem seat back in. Buddy Club side mount rails and a Corbeau FX1 are going to be my next attempt for a replacement seat. Several brands have seats in different sizes too, so search around. Many places also give you the dimensions of their seats on their websites, so that's also helpful when trying to find a seat that will fit.

The problem with standard side mounts is that they are only good for about 16.5" or less wide seats. My seat is 18" wide to fit me. I'll have my bracket tomorrow (ordered a planted) so I'll be able to post up how I fit in it this weekend at the latest. My seat is a sidemount, but I have to use a bottom plate mount with side brackets to get it to fit. And I've been racing my 240 for years with a helmet on stock S14 seats (suck), just have to recline it a tad (not much actually). Seat is all the way back though, lol.

I have Nagaisa rails and they are nice, but i'm not tall (5'8"). With that being said, it would be easy enough to weld some tabs onto the bracket to sift the seat bracket to the outside of the car for the wider folk. slight mod to an existing part would make it perfect.
