non functioning cruise control 1996 Q

Reaching desired speed with cruise button on, hit cruise 'set' Q starts to delecerate for a few seconds then rpm's jump up over 1000 rpm's hits set mph then decelerates again. Got some clues.
Also many trans fluid changes, would a BG flush/change fluid be a good or bad idea. Trans fluid is bright pink still. I know trans is on way out eventually.
This is a new ID name for me... been here long ago... stats again 1996 Q 153k miles totally maintained including total pelum (sp) overall new fuel pump

I just did a BG flush on my transmission (197K) and it shifts like new again! The key to the BG stuff is get it up to 140F+ as the chemicals are designed to do their job above 140F. What you're describing sounds like a bad cruise actuator...
