This is the same post as I made in the Interior, Exterior, and Audio subforum so if you answer here, don't worry about it over there...just that some of you don't seem to venture to far away from here.

Anywho, Riverside of Infiniti now has the double din conversion kit to upgrade the CD player to an aftermarket one with controls that have the dual climate option as well as the regular, non-dual climate option. My question is, if I currently don't have dual climate, can I just get the kit with the dual option and have dual climate controls?

Nope, but I will be calling Tony. Riverside is the only place that has the double din finisher in the US right now that's selling on the interwebs, as far as I know.

I'm just curious as to why it wouldn't. Does the dual climate system have two thermometers?

Dual climate SHOULD have dual thermometers and I'd venture to say that it also have a different ducting system that allows different temperature air to be routed to it's side.

I doubt the single climate control has that.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the reason that dual A/C control cannot be added without some serious work and rewiring. I read your thread here first and I too was curious so I looked at the ESM and found that there is another mix door and the control unit will need to be changed then wires will need to be added to make it all work. This is not a small task and I think that it will require more work and money than it would be worth. Here is the proof.

Gotcha. I wasn't sure if it was just the controller that was different in that it could vary fan speeds and what not. I had a feeling it was more complicated than what I was thinking.

Take a look at the ATC or the ESM if you are curious about how the system actually works. It is actually a pretty complex system. In the picture about you can see that the striped lines are CAN lines so the mode motors are all linked via the common lines that control and monitor many of the systems. If you read some of the intro and some of the diagnosis stuff it will give you a better idea when something is not right.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, the AC system is one of the most misunderstood systems in the car right behind the automatic transmission.
