Hello

I have a 05 Maxima with a Non Bose factory installed Nissan radio (am/fm,single CD,cassette, with SAT). It does not have RDS & only shows first 7 -8 characters on the display screen when listeing to SAT.

Im wondering if BOSE radios show RDS & scroll the letters in SAT so things can be read.

If so, can I get a Nissan Bose radio (say Ebay) and just plug it into the same wires I have now ?

Not sure about the text display functionality, but with the bose system you would need the head unit, amplifier, speakers, and all of the wires that aren't there in the car now.

Are you saying that I cant just get a Nissan Bose radio from a 04-05 Maxima and plug it into the wires I have now ? The radio I have now is a Nissan radio , I just dont beleive its a BOSE

I have 6 speakers now. I assume if a 05 Maxima comes with a Amplifier it would be in there ?

No there's no amp in the base system. The radio would plug in but I doubt that you would get half of the volume output that you have now.

Im sorry for being such a dummy. Does the NOn Bose have the AMp in the base unit or the Bose unit ? If I can get a Bose unit from a 2004 Maxima with a Amp for around $150... With your best guess, do you think it would work

It would work but let me qualify that. You'll have to get the deck mounted subs to have any bass, you'll have to make a whole new wiring harness for the stereo as all the wires to/from the amp are not there. Is all this work really worth it for what your going to get? Probably not. I might just look at getting a decent aftermarket stereo and get better sound and functionality for a lot less work.

Also, have we worked out if the bose unit even scrolls the text yet?

If I got a aftermarket radio, how would that affect the other readings I get from the radio display screen (climate control, time, temp)
