Non airbag 97 seats into a 98 issue

I'm trying (presently) to put in seats from a 97 that doesn't have airbags and my car has side airbags. Well since there isn't a airbag connection for the 97 seats, my airbag light is flashing on my dash. We tried to put a jumper in the connection and do the "reset" procedure but it is still flashing. I read Q45Tech state in a post from 03 that if the light is flashing, none of the airbags will work properly...or worse I'm afraid that it my deploy for no reason.

What can I do to stop the light from flashing other than pulling the dash and unplugging the bulb? Plus I still want the dash bags to work properly. I will put my old seats back in and see what you all have to say.

Sounds like you would need to downgrade the airbag controller to match the seats. That said, I would sure hesitate giving up the side airbags.
