I was thinking about getting some new spark plug wires for my '95 and was wondering why Nology's spark plug wires are like $180 and Accel's are around $60? I guess the Nology's have a built in capacitor or something but does it really make a difference? Has anyone tried both or have any experience with either or is there a better set out there somewhere? Thanks.

I use the accel as well. They are nice and solid, unlike some others that like to seperate at the boots.

Also If I rem correctly new they registered something like 450 ohms through them vs the tirem oem sumitomo's that ranged between 7k and 10k ohms through my multimeter

Only thing I would do is keep the oem #1 plug wire incase you want to do your timing later hehe. The timing lights dont seem to like the 8.5mm wires as the insulator is rather thick and hard to get a signal through.

nology. nology. nology.

they cost more, but I love mine, and everyone agress around here(in GA) at ballanced performance, they are great for performance. I also have a nology coil, and it works great.

I personally dont like accell wires, because on more than one ocassion a Z car club member has had problems with them....

I'd reccoment nology, NGK, or some MSD custom...I think theres a few other brands too...cant think of them offhand.

either way, one problem with nology wires: they cna cause radio problems if you have an old radio, or in some cars for some reason you get noise and ****.

I like mine anyway.

HOWEVER, Nology wires will not work well with a JWT ECU. The changes made within to the ignition maps react to the "stored charge" that the Nology wires provide, and you'll see driveability issues and alternator hum through the accessories in the car. For the record, JWT and Sunbelt both recommend OE wires over anything else. Two local KA turbos run OE wires and have no problems. I'm running Vitek wires since they're local here in Atlanta, good people to deal with, and cut me a deal to use them.

All I can say is that those Ultra Spark plug wires you get from Discount Auto Parts suck. I bought them and put them in and they kept popping out while Im driving. I bought the Accel wires and they stay nice and snug and run great.

And which cars are these? Angelo's car doesn't count since it just sits, and needs a lot of tuning. I'm not sure what Scott Parker runs but he's blown a ring land, so again that's not a good example. You're a beginner in the Atlanta scene, don't gauge what you see.

So now Zs and RX7s are considered 240s? Cool. Didn't know that. Experience with other cars doesn't count. Maybe I jumped on that too quick, I was drunk last night, but not one of the 12 founding members of the 240SX CC of Atlanta or the current 40+ active people have heard of you, and we've been here since 1995. My point being originally was that both Jim and Clark at JWT advise against Nology wires, Ben might recommend them but he's a moron. Jim Thompson at Sunbelt swears by OE wires as well. I'm not knocking the Nologys when running a stock computer, but for the price and downsides they're hardly worth it.

i hear ya man, but both examples before would have nothing to do with plug wires. Im sure you can get electronic interferance from any capacitive discharge system, if you dont sheild the electronics near it, I had that problem with a MSD 6AL setup and coil on my 300ZX. If the guys over at sunblet recoomend/dissaprove of something I would hold that in high regard, jim wolf technology is a great company, but I've heard lots of mixed reviews about them. The only way I'll really know is to dyno it with and without the wires, and with and without a tunned ECU.

and Im almost sure you havent heard of me, since I was a Z club member for most my car-loving life, but see, I havent heard of you either....doesnt mean on thing or another. I'm not really "active" in the 240 CC of atlanta, mostly because when I was with the GA Z club it was when I was out of school, part time job, etc. I have school, working full time, etc allong with working on a drag car (500ci nitous injected fiberglass body camaro) with one of the tehs at my work.

either way, if JWT says not to use them, I would assume you shouldnt with a reburned ECU. But I put them on, and its the first time I noticed results from changing plug wires.

anyways, look forward to chilling with the 240 guys around here when I get some time this summer.

-chetsee my car at the link below, also.
