Thanks guys. I'm excited to get home, I have barely been able to do any work at work cause all i keep thinking about is going home and tinkering with her. shew as ideling last night and then would die as soon as I touched the gas, I figured out what was wrong at like 12:30am but I think my neighbors are pissed enough at me and I wasnt about to try to start it again.

Yeah neither can I, it seems the tune I got didn't compensate for the 660cc injectors, or rather didn't compensate enough so I'm having super rich problems, the car barely holds idle and that's at 1100rpm I emailed the tuner, hopefully he can figure out wth is going on, till then I'm tinkering and doing a lot of reading on tuning and SAFC operation, but at least it idles, That's more then it has done in a very long time. :)

What tuner did you go with? Ever think about NISTUNE? I know Dane from Houston Z sells it and does really good tuning.

I got it from e-mance, he is the one with all the cheap chips on e-bay, the guy's name is Jason, i did a bunch of research about him and his work, apparently there are a lot of people that are happy with his work and he is a knowledgeable guy, I discussed with him my setup and he wrote the chip for me, I've been talking to him today about getting this issue fixed. so by no means am I trying to say he's a bad guy, he's helping me solve the issues. (that s for the record, we'll see where it goes). I have been looking at NISTUNE for a long time but right now I don't have the money for it, its definitely on my list and Dane, Dane has helped me a lot with this car, I've bought a few parts from him and been up at the shop a few times, he's a great dude and would be my first choice for all my tuning needs if I had the money but right now my budget just doesn't allow Dane's services.

Fair enough sir, as long as you did the research on the guy and he is indeed fixing the problem then I guess there's nothing wrong with the tune you got - because believe me, I know what it means to be on a budget, I just want the best parts for my car lol.

I posted this in the Tech section but figured it could get some traffic here too.

MODS:
660cc Injectors
EGR delete
Adjustable FPR (set at 40psi +/- 5 @ idle)
FMIC
SAFC2
AVCR
E-mance chipped ECU (supposedly custom base map for my setup)

Here is the problem: The car starts, it starts with issues and usually needs a little bit of cranking but it starts every time I try. It idles 900-1200 RPM as it warms up and then settles at about 1000rpm (which is high, FSM says 700rpm for idle). The vacuum at idle when warm is steady at ~17mmHg. If I hit the throttle and stay on it, it dies every time. If I tap it quick and let off it will drop to ~400rpm then bounce back up to ~1500rpm and then settles out at ~1000rpm half the time, the other half the time if I held it open a second too long it dies out. I have tried setting my SAFC to -40 on LO throttle from 800rpm to 3200rpm. The injectors are at 1.2 % at idle and when I flick the throttle they will jump to 100% or more and then back down to 1% - 2%, The voltages all look normal, all the injectors ohm out perfect, the TPS shows .4V - .5V at idle and 4.5V - 5V at WOT. The ECU randomly throws a Code 13 (Coolant Temp Sensor) this code comes and goes. I dont think the Code 13 is the reason for all this non-sense but I guess at this point anything is possible. Sorry for the novel guys but I'm at the end of my rope please HELP!

Thanks in Advance
Anton

Hope your tuner gets it figured out for you, that's the one thing I dislike about today's cars- the computers and computer sensors throughout the car that add to failure potential.
They really make our cars work great, until they don't...

UPDATE: So last night after exhausting every single possibility of a bad sensor I decided to unplug the SAFC, jump the MAF wires and try starting the car. GUESS WHAT! it runs, I took it on a short drive last night. It has problems staying on if you dump the gas but other then that it runs and pulls like a Freight train might I add. I couldn't be happier with the result. Also it really fun driving this thing with dumped DPs :chuckle: So now I have to figure out whether the SAFC is bad or if there is something wrong with the factory SAFC harness. So for those of you in Houston, I'll be seeing you at a meet soon enough. :dblthumb:

SAFC is most likely getting sold because the EPROM seems to be very well fitted for the car, I gotta say I underestimated Jason (E-Mance) the car kicks out the tail with ease and runs like a beast, what little I have driven it. there are still some issues I gotta iron out but it looks like the SAFC wont be needed. Now cmon and finish yours, mine pulls like a muther and thats on wastegate boost (I havent set the AVCR yet) I can only imagine what the Disco Potatoes are gonna feel like when your done.

So earlier today I pulled the timing cover, BAM 2 teeth off on the cams. DAMN THE f*** TENSIONER!!!!! so yeah back to work, but at-least it didn't jump 3 teeth and f*** my valves.

Thanks guys but its looking pretty bad, looking like the rings didn't seat properly because I'm getting very even low compression across the board. hopefully I can salvage the motor without having to open it up again. If so I'm going to set the thing to stock partameters and enjoy her as she was from the factory, in the meantime I have been brewing the idea of a whipple-charged vh45, my buddy and his dad own a powerboat shop and they have hookups on whipple so this may actually become a reality sometime in the next few years. only thing is my tax return and a boatload of other moneis is going to pay for the remainder of my education because I don't want to take out any more loans.

I haven't studied it closely so now its more of a pipe dream but I'm first and foremost a fabricator, my mechanic's skills take a back seat to my fab so I would be willing to undertake that kind of project if its reasonable, if I have to chop the hood and form a bulge so be it. And believe me nut you would be the first person i'd come to with questions. I'm just really down about the rebuild right now so I figure if I'm gonna do all this work a third time I might as well go CRAZY. I've though about LS1 but I wanna keep it in the family.

I'd go LS1 if you want that kinda power. It's a bit more work but you have a lot more power potential. Plus you can build those to 500hp NA easy (they actually have an aftermarket lol). You could have a procharger on a VH, but you definitely wouldn't be able to keep it under the stock hood. VH45's are good for 450whp at 6.5psi, so you know your car would be a beast lol. You could also run a remote mounted turbo, but nothing in the engine bay. Theres just no room for it. I'd take an LS1 over a VH...

I can email you an LS1 swap guide if you want.

Nah man, either way there will be no engine out work for the next few years, if my engine is toast then the car will just sit for the next couple years until I can afford to do a balls out build and the only way i would ever spend the time and money on charging a VH is if I could get some rods and pistons made, the pistons isnt a big deal its easy to find ppl who make custom pistons but rods, thats another story.
