Are the h1 70watt fogs too much for the housing and wiring? noticed they heat the plastic lens covers quite a bit so cant imagine it's very safe huh? ,, anyone have feedback on this ?

I would stay away from higher watt fogs due to issues I've seen on other Nissan products with the wiring. Upgrade to matching HID and you should be good.

Or external housings. This is sort of the direction I have been leaning to but with a different slant.

Rather than two normal fogs I have been looking at some very specific LEDs in multiple housings driven off the steering sensor postion. I have the technology kit now but to me with todays technology we have this all backwards. Rather than moving a single light in a housing we could simply have finely aimed multiple housings and brighten and dim them as needed. Make a right turn and the lights on the right side would brighten. Since we are speaking fogs we have a good spot for that.

Some car manufacturers have also experimented with uv and heads up units which would be another possible mod I would be interested in.

I'm sure some form of LED array system would be offered in the future....

It's not too difficult to upgrade fogs to HID and with HID kits relatively cheap now it's a viable solution.
