Hey everyone,

Sorry no pictures yet but I just put on some of these tires and they really impressed me. Last snow storm I couldn't even get my s14 up my driveway but now it feels like a really functional car in the snow. I will get to test them on the interstate tomorrow so I will update the post and let you guys know if they are loud or not.

Nokian builds the best snow tires for the general public use. Too bad they're not better known. I've owned several sets, as we sell them at work. Excellent winter tires, best I've used / ridden on.

I got mine from a company on the internet for $410 delivered to my door. Every place I called locally was charging way more then that. I would tell you the name of the company but not sure if I can without violating the rules of the board. If anyone one is interested I can email you or if you let me know it is ok I can post the address.

Oh and b the way I tested them on i-25 at speeds up 80-85. They were really smooth and quite up the 65 but above that I am getting some exesive vibration. Now keep in mind that i-25 going into denver is completely torn up right now and grooved so that is probably what it is. I am going to go into good year tonight and just have them torque down the bolts to right amount and take a quick peak at my rotors.

I did do something really stupid. When I was removing the left rear tire I turned the lug nut the wrong way. And I turned it pretty damn hard thinking the previous owner just over torqued them. Ya, I know, I'm a dumb ***. Hopefully I didn't jack my rotor up.

Bad news, the tires were 1-1.5 ounces out of balance and good year says the tires are out of round. They said that this is fairly comman for this brand (not to sure I believe that). I am about to drive it home so we will see. They say there is stilla a slight shimmy at 65. I guess I will talk to the place I bought them from tomorrow and see what they think.

No they are not normally out of round. Nokian builds the best snow tires available.

Change shops when they start blaming tires. Watch the tech balance them. Ask if he can show you the tire spin on the balancer, to see if the tire is OOR or the wheel is bent or both. Out of round tires, when so new, are workmanship defect and completely warranted. At least, they are at my store.

Thanks for your feedback SmithSR. I am really stressing over this. The shimmy was about 50% better on the drive home but still very noticable. I will talk to the company tomorrow and I am going to have there tech call the good year tech and let him expain to him directly.

I am really bummed because I can feel how stellar the tire is but definetly won't be able to deal with just paying $700 dollars for new wheels and tires that were suppose to come balanced. I wonder what I can do if the company isn't willing to make it right?

Ok, just to give an update I talked to the company that sold me the tires and they are being really great about the whole situation. They said I could ship them back immediatly if I wanted. We decided to bring it to another tire shop and get another opinion. I find it highly doubtful that all 4 tires are OOR and could be the sales manager is exploiting a bad situation. I definetly wan't to spend so time though and find the problem instead of just shipping them back.

Just to give an update on this it turns out another shop is also saying the exact same thing. I even had them throw them on another set of brand new wheels. So anyways I am going to have the comapny send me another set but I am telling them to test them first since I really dont feel like going through this again. Looks like there is a bad batch of Nokian rsi's out there.
