Noisy Turbo

i have the stock t28, when it boosts, i can hear it loudly from inside the car

and if boost up to 10 psi a few times, the boost will climb alot slower after

about the 3rd or 4th 10 psi pull, no smoke or anything like that, all the

mods are in the sig. im pretty sure the turbo is no good, so how much

longer should it last? and also is the gt28rs the largest turbo that is a

direct bolt on with the oil and coolant lines because i would like something

bigger but i want something that is basically bolt on for right now. Thanks

My turbo has always had a loud spooling sound inside the car. You have to keep in mind that turbo is right infront of you.

ive also got a 90 AWD Talon and when the turbo spools on it, all i hear is a very high pitched whine, very similar to the sound of a 18 wheeler's turbo when it spools, so i figuered that the turbos would sound somewhat similar to my t28.

Every Turbo will sound different (sorta). I mean for example a K03 turbo from VW is very quiet and makes a high pitch whine. My SR was louder and made a mid range whine while spooling. Unless your car is smoking (white) or not building boost correctly id say your turbo is fine.

well what do u think about it boosting slower after a few 10 psi pulls? should i run a different oil or something? i am running 10w 30 Mobil 1

Thats the right oil to be running. Maybe exhuast leak? It shouldnt boost anydifferent if the turbo was going out/ If its going out it should act crappy all the time. PLus my buddies turbo is going out but it still boost like it did just smokes white.

Try thisTake the intake piping of the turbo and test the play int he turbo shaft. a little up and down is ok as long as its not a lot. Side to side is bad though. You could maybe have bad shaft play but from what youve said doesnt seem like thats it.

aight, ill check for shaft play, i think i may have a boost leak, i have to check tomorow, this would make boostin a little slower wouldnt it? Thanks for the input.
