Noisy transmission

I have a 2007 Nissan sentra 2.0l with cvt transmission. When I put transmission in fwd or rev. I get a strange vibrating noise like engine idling too slow. I also noticed when I put car is in gear and I step on brake rpm drops at least 100 rpm. Is this normal. I thought computer would speed engine up if this were to occur. My 1996 ford revs engine higher when a/c or car put in gear. I run codes but I get nothing.

I figured out the noise. Looks like it was the belt tensioner. Also changed waterpump too while I was in there and because car had almost 140k on it. Car quiet again.

that's interesting. i never checked that. how did you know it was the tensioner? i am having a problem with car making a whining noise, increasing with acceleration. i put the trans in neutral while at speed and the noise stays there. i thought it was tire related as it increases with speed, but after rotating the tires it still the same noise.
