Noisy Sunroof

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with their sunroof being noisy. When I drive about 110 km/h I hear a lot of noise coming from the sun roof. I'm sure it's due to the sunroof not being snug against the weatherstripping. Would it be as simple as applying silicon lubricant to the weather stripping? Or should I replace the weather stripping or apply another layer of material (like foam) to the weather stripping to seal off the gaps causing the noise?

mine makes a lot of noice guy i bought the car from broke the latch i just have zip ties holding mine down. when i hit 50 mph if the windows not down all you hear is this annoying whistle

Yup that's exactly the sound that mine's making. It's pretty annoying at higher speeds, especially about 140 km/h. I have an idea that might work, but I don't really wanna ruin the weatherstripping in case it doesn't work. You know that foam weatherstripping people put on their trucks when they put a roof over the cargo bay? I'm thinking of sticking some of that in there, but not sure how it's going to turn out. Just checking to see if there are any better ideas.

why don't you just try to replace the original weather stripping it's probably old and not doing such a good job anymore

i just dont leave the latch all the way closed, it holds it a little tighter and no whistle. im going to put a spacer in so the latch doesnt go all the way down.

Dont mean to jack your thread but does anyone elses manual sunroof fall down while they are driving?All I here is a big WHACK when it falls and usually scares the people riding in the car with me.

Nope, not mine. Might wanna inspect the latch to see if there's anything missing. I know that this other 240 that I was testdriving earlier this year had its latch completely fall apart during the test drive

Same thing with a targa, but I think targas are sexier than sunroofs

hey!just tighten up the bolts! that is what I did and the noise is gone! Had this problem on all 3 of my 240s.Its the bolts located under the latch.

My s14 sunroof is pretty much silent when open at highway speeds FYI. All my friends were quite impressed in that they sometimes dont even know if its open w/o looking.
