We have an 08 Rogue with 80k on it that we purchased a few months ago. We immedietly noticed a TERRIBLE grinding under the gas pedal that we were later told was coming from CVT. We have had it to dealership numerous times. They tell us it is normal, and to just "turn up the radio". It is so frustrating because this can't be normal, and if it is, I encourage anyone interested in purchasing a Nissan Rogue, to NOT do so, if this is "normal". I don't know where to turn because I feel like they just "blew us off" hoping we would go away. Well, I'm NOT going away...I will fight this until it is fixed. It makes driving this beautiful vehicle not such a good time.
Any ideas?

Save ALL of the receipts that show you visited the dealer and had the symptom examined prior to the expiration of the powertrain warranty. Call Nissan corporate and complain. They should get you in touch with a regional/zone/district manager.

On the other hand, it looks like you bought it after the factory warranty expired. Expect a $6k repair bill. :(

If you have 80K miles, then you're probably no longer covered by the factory warranty, UNLESS there was a recall involving your problem that extended the warranty. I don't know enough about Rogues to know if there was a recall involved with that. (Should be fairly easy to find out on-line) I think Nissan's basic powertrain coverage is 5 yrs or 60K. That said, that dealer is clearly being sleazy about it, so at this point I would not expect them to give you an honest answer. I think your best bet is to get a real diagnosis from an independant transmission specialist. Yes, you might spend money to get it, but you'll learn what's wrong (hopefully its more like $60, not $6,000) and then be able to decide on your next move.

We do have the extended warranty so it's good to 120k. It was suggested yesterday to take it to another Nisson dealer who has a great reputation that is close by. I like the suggestion to call Nisson corp. I am going to keep plugging away

Having the extended warranty makes a huge difference. Unfortunately, not all dealers are ethical, and it appears you found a bad one. I'd try the good reputation dealer and if they don't give you satisfaction, immediately escalate it to Nissan.

If the dealer doesn't warranty it let me see what I can locate the transmission for. My dad and I run/own a salvage yard.

I will need to know this information:

Fwd or Awd?
California or federal emissions?
With or without the tow package?
Production month/year?

I can try and locate one near you to save you some money then just give you the number so you can deal directly with the yard.

Nissan corporate has been cracking down on their dealers as of late. They used to be rated dead last in customer satisfaction. You might just have some luck yet!
