I have a 2008 2.5s and i am getting some brake squeal. I have about 20,000 miles on it and dont really remember is sqealing too much in the first year. It doesnt always sqeak, its like they need to warm up. This is all the oem gear, still on the first set of pads. anyone else have this problem?

Actually I ran into this problem at about 11k miles. I heard there was a problem with the brakes/calipers or something with the 2008 models. They would squeal when I first started driving and then stop for a bit after a little driving. still it got bad....other members complained about this but I went about the wrong way to fixing it.
Now don't be stupid like me and go to a regular mechanic. I had a trip to go on and needed them fixed quick because my mom wouldn't get into my ride thinking it was unsafe, especially because it was long distance so I went to my mechanic got them done and thought that I would be reimbursed by Nissan (I had to change all 4 brake pads, about $400) but they said they couldn't do a thing because someone else touched it.

Use that warranty and refuse to pay a dime!

I called nissan and they said basically the best thing to do is come in and let them check it out, then they went into this whole wierd wear and tear patterns on the brakes, i probably shouldnt have waited as long as i did but they even said brake pads should last from 30-40k miles and im really only around 19k. The squeal probably started for me around 13-14k miles, maybe a bit earlier, i just have a feeling they are gonna get me on the wierd wear and tear patttern and i should replace it because its maintainence on the vehicle.

Tell them that you know its a known problem and have talked to people who it happened to. Don't let them get you on anything, especially if your still under warranty. It was something about the later 2008 models having inferior brake pads on them. I remember there was a post on this if you search back...maybe someone has the link?

The brake pads were indeed faulty and they replaced them for free. I only had to pay for the brake inspection which was like 56 bux but yeah, not a bad deal IMO, i think they shoulda covered that but it was worth it.
