Well after a long 60 mile trip to my friends house yesterday at like 80-90 the whole way, When I got off the highway i heard some loud knocking noise.. I freaked out and thought my engine was pinging but it would go away in the higher rev's so i turned off the AC and it all went away.. I looked at the engine bay today and it looks like the compressor had spit out oil or something.. Well I guess i need to add some oil, Since it goes clank clank clank when the AC is on but it still works fine...

That's odd...if it's spitting oil it should be spitting freon too. How much oil was there? Was it coming from behind the pulley? The leaking oil is probably more a symptom than a cause. Galled bearing?

Yea its all coming from behind the pulley, guess its time for a new compressor huh ? :)As far as i know the freon is fine, and the whole compressor is filthy, Looks like its been doing it for a while now

What type of refrigerant do you use? This is important to consider, since R12 is like $72 a pound (my 90 takes 2 pounds) and is not available in a lot of areas, while R134A is like $20 a pound. A/C work can get expensive fast. More than likely you will wind up retrofitting to R134A, replacing the reciever/dryer, as well as the compressor. Then you have to flush the R12 out before you charge it with R134A.

I will retrofit it... I know how expensive it can get, Had to replace lines, compressor AND evaporator in my old 92 celica was real cheap though, only wasted about 300 bucks on it
