Noisier at idle after oil change?

Has any of you Versa owners felt that the car is noisier at idle after the first oil change? I just noticed at around 8000 kms that the car is noisier at idle. It's not that the car vibrates or makes a loud sound at idle, but it used to be very quiet as if the engine is not running at all . But now I can definitely hear some engine sound at idle.

I did my first oil change at around 5000kms at my friend's shop. He used 10W30 instead of 5W30, but it shouldn't have too much effect since it's still not that cold here. I already did the 2nd oil change at 11000kms and it didn't get any smoother (or any rougher). Oh, and I didn't do anything stupid during the break-in period.

I'm just wondering whether this is normal. Let me know how your cars are doing at idle.. Is it noisier than when you had it for the first thousand kms? Thanks guys.

No it's not normal. Change it back to 5w30. Its too cold outside to use 10w30, specially on a cold start ( when you get more noise ). There is a more scientific exp for it but ... 5w30 in winter and 10w30 summer...

It might be too cold for 10w30 in Quebec but in Vancouver it shouldn't make a difference. Just make sure you put in the correct grade next time.

i noticed the same thing. And I can also feel the vibration while idling in the brake pedal. Very significant difference.

Thanks for the replies, guys. So, The Edge, when you said that you noticed it too, did you change the oil using 5W30 just like the manual suggested? Oh and, Marleyfan, how many kms does your Versa have now? Is it as quiet as ever that you may not notice that the engine is running?

I don't know what type of oil was put in but I did get it changed at the dealer because my first oil change was free.

I put in 5w30 synthetic last oil change. I have around 11000 kms and I notice it is a bit noisier than when new but not so that it's concerning. You really have to listen to hear anything.
