"the reverse noise"

it's the way the gears are cut, they just whine like that.

unless you're talking about something else

Kind of a groan noise? Only every once in awhile? Get your rear brake rotors turned at a local parts store. The sound tends to come from warped rotors.

I had the exact same problem. Turns out whoever did the brakes last messed up the back left caliper. The inside brake pad has a little metal pin (or two? can't remember) on the back that HAS to be lined up with the slots in the piston. These are the 4 slots that allow the use of a tool to turn the piston back into or out of the caliper. Mine wasn't allined and the pad sat in there crooked causing it to wear uneavenly. When I would back up in or out of gear that pad would bind causing the noise.

if the problem is like a loud rubbing sound, all i had to do is replace my back brakes, it turns out the ones that were on there were a little worn out, so i slapped on some new raybestos and that solved the problem for me..

I have the noise too and I am pretty sure you hit the nail on the head. I am pretty sure that is the problem because I am the one who did the brakes and I had a problem lining up those slots. I had the same problem on the front and sometimes I can hear the pads drop into the slots if I go slow and lay on the brakes slow and hard. Part of the problem I think was also that my shims were all rusted in half and the parts stores around here didnt have them so I am running shimless on all 4 brakes.
