When i put my car in reverse, it makes a noise for a second, kinda like if u put something in a fan blade while the fan is on. Is this a normal thing for the G35? I've only had it for 2 months so i was just wondering. Its not loud or sound like anything is being damaged, I just notice it.

Welcome to NICO!

Are you sure it only happens in reverse? The only sound I know of that comes on right after you start moving is the ABS self-check. It COULD be described like you did. To me it sounds more like a thud and if you're on the brakes when it does it, then you get the thump thump thump like when ABS kicks in.

no its only in reverse, and its not a thump, the only way i can describe it is like a fan sound.

Take that car immediately to Infiniti. Should not have any issues with the reverse, at least not a whinning sound like the previous designs of manual transmissions that whinned like crazy.

To me it's normal. My 03 G35 Coupe did it and my 08 G37 Journey does it. With over 55,000 miles between the two cars I have come to accept the noise (whatever it is) is normal and not sympomatic of dire consequences to come.

Reverse has straight gears, i believe that is what you are hearing.

Might be helpful to know if you have an automatic or a Manual. They work in very different ways so noises would not be the same.

If it is a manual, does it occur as you put it into reverse or after its fully engaged the gear. Are you moving or stopped when you hear it? Try and be as specific as possible. Since we aren't observing this in person, noises can be hard to diagnose.

Do you make it a point to reverse and stick it into drive before you've come to a complete stop (from reversing)?

This might be the problem.

Again, you need to be as SPECIFIC as possible. The exact order/timing of things can make a huge difference in what might be wrong or at least where to start looking.
