I have a 96 i30, lugs are tight, shocks/strutts replaced last august. I have 2 problems that may or may not be related.

-When I apply the brakes and the car is approaching a stop (between 5mph-0mph), it makes a noise. The noise isnt really a squeek or clunk. It's more like the kind of noise a poorly lubricated metal on metal joint would make. What could it be: ABS, E-brake maybe?

-Problem #2: I'll be driving and run over a medium or even small "rough spot" in the road and I hear a rattle/clunk/vibration by the rear wheel. All 4 shocks/strutts were replaced last summer. I'm convinced its not the shocks because the rattle/clunk/vibration sound can occur a split second after i hit the bump, and last around a full second or 2 after i hit the bump. What causes this?

Your brake pads could be worn out and you are hearing the built-in worn pad warning. It could also be from warped rotor or sticky eBrake. As for the rattle/clunk, as long as the suspension is good, then check the hangers/support for your exhaust.

My brake pads have alot of life left on them. The brake noise is more of a deeper creaking/moaning sound. The noise doesn't occur when im driving and apply my brakes... only when I'm coming to a complete stop/very close to coming to a stop. Is there a good way of diagnosing this and isolate the problem?
Thanks

What about the anti rattle springs are they in place by the pads?
Is the caliper pin properly lubricated and the rubber pin cover in place?
(Might have sticky caliper pin)
Do the pads have anti squeel on the backs of them?
Are you using a torque wrench?
