Hi everybody,
Rogue 2008 S FWD.
When AC is on and the shift is on R or D position, low grinding noise and slight vibration.
Shift to N or P, with the headlight off, the noise and vibration are 100% gone.
Shift to N or P, with the headlight on, sometime softer noise and less vibration appear.

Am I right that this noise is nothing to do with AC compressor or AC belt?
I think, no matter where transmission stick position (P,N,D, R etc) is, the AC compressor or AC belt function is not affected at all.

So, is it transmission problem? When the engine has more work to do, and the transmission engage in D or R, the transmission vibrate???

Waiting for your sharing experience and expertise.

Thanks

5 weeks ago my AC quit. Took it in to the dealer, who found the compressor was no good. They replaced he compressor and all was well.

It seems as though the AC is extremely loud now. When AC is turned and fan is turned to high, there is a "rattling" noise or a "grumbling" noise.

I returned to the dealer today and they said that is normal. They said there is a bracket beneath the engine which tends to rattle in the 09 Rogue when the AC is turned on.

The AC works fine and the fan turns on when it is supposed to, just seems loud.

Any Thoughts?

Thanks

Is the noise coming from inside the cabin area or from outside at the new compressor? Sometimes trash falls thought the defrost vents, paper, insects, change or other detritus, and comes in contact with the cabin fan and will make noise. If its coming from the new compressor I assume you have some type of warranty since the dealer installed it.

Keep an eye/ear on it if it gets worse or changes significantly take it back to the dealer and get a new one under warranty. The clutch on an ac unit is often what fails and they can make a lot of noise. Lets face it sometimes new parts out of the box are bad to begin with. Just keep watch of it and make sure you don't allow any warranty you may have to expire before bringing it back to the dealer if it seems to be getting worse or not working properly.

I have a 2010 Rogue SL AWD. Fan was loud and vibrating. Worse the higher you turned it up. I took out the cabin air filter, and I could feel leave pieces in side the input. I pulled my engine air filter (the FRE and engine air split there), and stuck a vacuum with a crevice tool attached, and stuck it as far as it would go down the FRE portal. When I pulled it out, a couple of chewed up acorn, and hazelnut pieces. I did it about 12 times until no more. Next I put a piece of screening with duct tape at the main intake over the radiator. Put the engine air filter back in, started the car, ran the foot fan and shot out the last of the leaves. My fan sounds like new again. Awaiting a new cabin air filter, and will put that back together. Total time, 45 minutes. Cost: $6.95 for a cabin air filter on eBay. You know a dealer would have told me I needed a new fan blower, at 5 hours, cost: $500 to $650. LOL! Friggin Nissan. I used to love them, now I want to kill them....(G&R quote).

I had this problem. There were critters that packed in nuts which caused an issue with the internal parts. There was so much of it the internal mechanism was locked in one spot which caused a loud knocking noise when it was trying to move. If you live in an area where you have small animals you might consider having your tech check that out.

Hi Everyone!

Had a 94 Camry, 2nd engine died, NOT paying $1000 for engine again. Got rental car in the meantime, loved the 2017 Rogue SV, ended up getting 2013 SV at a local dealer.

No noise, but big vibration. Only does it in D, usually at a light where idling/brake pushed, whole car seems to shake/rattle for a few seconds or so and goes away. Does it intermittently so no real pattern. Since just bought 3 days ago, took to dealer. Service guy says his wife has same car and same problem and that its usually the compressor. Odd thing though is that the RPMs typically go down, but I did have one time while it was raining that it went up to 2 while at a light. This seemed to concern him more. :wtf2:

Currently car is at dealership, they gave me a loaner car in the meantime. Will update once I hear back from dealership

This is my car "real" car and I look forward to being part of the family :)
