noise when accelerating

when i accelerte at any time the engine or some part of it makes a noise..i looked under the hood but does make noise when not accelerating..and the plastic fan on crank pulley is craked a little on almost every blade..could that affect anything?? if its not that then its something else that i dont have any clue on..SUGGESTIONS? thanks

yeah, explain the noise.as for the fan, there's a chance it could just explode all of a sudden. you can take it out and wire the electric fan to run all the time. I had no problem with it during texas summer.

i believe its more of a clicking than a whistling..ill get more drive time tomorrow and get back to you tomorrow for a more descriptive explanation..

Is the fan hitting the shroud? You say it's cracked, you might have bad mounts.

no its not hiting the shroud..and what would bad mounts result in?

bad mounts would let the motor move too much and raise up on accelleration, resulting in the fan making contact with the shroud.

If you rev the motor when you're under the hood can you duplicate the noise?

well like i said earlier..it doesnt make the noise when just reving the engine in neutral..just when in gear and motion

It sounds like the fan. I think from the original post it sounds that way to you as well since you mentioned it.

You could powerbrake it to test it out sometimes that's enough to get the motor to pop up and make contact. With an auto it's easy enough, if it's a 5 speed it'll be a bit harder.....
