Well, i got bored and installed them on my coupe. OH well but i just put in the front just as of now.

Problem is when I drive that I hear this clunk noise. Only over decent size bumps and stuff. Clunk clunk of both coilovers.

Now all bolts are tight. 3 bolts from the pillowmount and the 2 bolts on the struts.

I adjusted the coilovers so it rides about 17 threads from the bottom which is about 1/2 inch or somethign iono.

Anyways these coilovers are Tanabe Sustec Pro DD... I'm thinking is it just because having solid pillowmounts or something?

I'm right about the solid pillowmount thing causing the noise...

Reminds me of popcorn. HAHA so everytime i drive I hear popcorn.

This mod gives the car a unique sound as well.....Amazing how tanabe includes it free =)

The cars I have ridden in with pillowball mounts make a little noise as well.

You might have a problem then. They should only make a slight bit more noise than stock. Any loud clunking is an issue... especially when you pony up the cash for a real nice coilover suspension. Do you have bump-stops to prevent bottoming out the shocks?

I'd check everything again... look for clearence issues with the springs... tighten ALL the bolts including the one that mounts the pillowball to the shock.... it's hard to say without seeing it in person.

You DO have a problem or you just bought some noisy stuff.

I've had 3 sets of coilovers on 3 different cars and they've never made a clunking sound. The only time my coilovers made a clunk is when I let my g/f help me install them (she wanted to) and I didn't check over the bolts she 'tightened' down.

I figured it out. I feel stupid but hey.........i did it hahaYa forgot to tighten up the pillowmount bolt. Other than that everything went smooth........very smooth.

I did this at 11am and look a couple breaks and finished at about 2:10am. Not bad for doing it by myself and with my good ol' jack. That jack makes a huge difference =)

But damn.......my titties are bouncing..! The ride feels awsome though

I'm come up w/ an review of it once i get some road time w/ it =)

Thanks for helping a brother out-Ronald

Yeah it's a common problem to have the upper nut come lose or not be tightened down all the way.

check rear brake calipers. mine has a bolt that wont let the caliper be always "a little tight" so the brake pads are clunking against the rotor until I press the brakes. sounds very similar to suspension noise.

hey i got some d2s and mine clunks like hell in the rear.. How do you tighten the top bolt? I tried to tighten them with the coilovers in the car but i dont think it was making a difference.
