Alright, I've searched and searched this forum for an answer and just cant come up with one. I think I'm having the same problem some of your are having with a noise coming from the back of the car going over small bumps and low speeds. (getting checked out this week). But today, when I shut my back left passenger door, a "fluttering noise" came from the back of the car. I checked the licences plate and licence plate frame to see if that was the source. NOPE. I am suspecting it is the small rubber vents that are visible when you pull back the trunk lining? Can anyone help me on this on? Got the car 2 weeks ago. 07 M35x with 47,xxx miles.

THANKS! By the way, I am loving the M. Major upgrade from the 92' Lesabre with 271,xxx miles I had to drive until my recent wedding was over and paid. :mike

Took apart my trunk today. I found the problem to be two things. First the little rubber stops in the spare tire well was broken on one side so the tire was able to rock back and forth. Second, the tow bolt (I assume) was just laying under the spare tire. Free to roll around, I think that was making the thud noise over bumps. Still going to get the struts checked out but I just wanted to report back in case someone else was having the same thing happen to them.
