I'm getting an awkward noise coming from the front right wheel area after I installed my mid pipe...but that might not be related.

Anyways, when im going 65+ and my car hits a dip, as the car is moving downwards I hear a sound that sounds similar to the shield behind the rotors rubbing against the rotor itself. It's the same exact sound that would make. Only happens at higher speeds and only happens when the car's suspension is going in the downwards motion. My front wheels don't have that metal shield behind the rotors.

It happens seconds at a time so its never constant sound, only as the car is in the downwards motion after a dip on the highway...if that makes sense.

Also getting a weird rattling sound after I installed the mid pipe which should be related. Sounds like a thin metal rattling against another metal towards the back of the car, specifically above the mufflers. There is a heat shield above the mufflers so I believe that's the sound. This sound wasnt there before I installed the mid pipe. I had the Megan mufflers for about a year now and this sound was not there before I installed the mid pipe.

Anybody have these sounds before? Not too worried about it (except the front sound...might be wheel hub). It's mostly annoying.

These Jersey roads are messing up my car.

I was getting an odd noise whenever I hit dips for a while, and I didn't really know it was a rubbing noise. I think it was the front piece of plastic in the wheel well. I noticed that was hanging out after a bunch of snow and ice got on top of it and weighed it down, so pushed it back up into the wheel well and the sound is much less frequent now. There were no signs of wear on the plastic piece, and I don't understand how it didn't get caught on the tire and rip out, but I guess it is what it is.

So anybody know about the noise in the front? The rattling sound I belive is coming from my Y pipe covering. Looks like a heat shield that covers the Y pipe piping.

The sound in the front bothers me now. Sounds like a rock stuck in brakes but thats not it, it just sounds very similar to the sound.

If it's a heat shield, just tear it off. My 99 Maxima had it's removed long long long before I got rid of the car. Most guys remove them once they start to rust.

When you installed it was it a perfect fit? It sounds like it wasn't and you may have an exhaust alignment issue. The engine moves and the old Y pipe had flex pipes for that reason, if you have an aftermarket Y pipe that is rigid it may be the engine causing the entire exhaust to flex and be misaligned.

If it is the heat shield don't remove it unless it's beyond repair. I removed mine because the holes where the bolts go were rusted and couldn't be reattached. See if you can fix it before you just remove it.

You are correct, your y pipe changeout may have nothing to do with the noise.
If your M has over 65k miles (usually 100k to 125K is sweet spot) your wheel bearings are probably going south on you. A change of load on the hubs (turns & bumps) can cause change of pitch, which makes you notice the problem. From photos, it appears you have suspension/wheel mods..those can also change load on wheel bearings, altering life span of those components. You may be due!
