My 240 makes a noise while I'm driving. It isn't from the engine b/c it only changes with the car's speed. Sounds like the chain on a motorcycle, kinda like a bearing noise. It's been doing it since I bought the car last year and hasn't got any worse. It gets louder when I hit the brakes. Possibly a bearing going bad?? Or universal joints on the drive shaft?? Just wondering if anyone knows of a common 240 problem that would make this noise. I havn't heard a car make this noise before in all my years of driving. It isn't real loud and I can't hear it unless the windows are down.

there may be something rubbing on the rear rotor. pull the wheels and inspect the breaks. check the half shafts and the seals while your at it.

I kinda thought it was something rubbing the rotors as well. They are cross drilled and it would definitly make a noise like that. I'll have to check it out tomorrow if i get some time.

ya, the fact that it gets lowder when you hit the brakes kinda leads me away from the bearings.
