i just bought a 95 nissan HB truck, 5spd.at lower rpms, under 3500, the motor sound fine.over 3500rpms, there is a rattling noise from the engine bay.when i hear the noise, there is NO power loss or poor performance.what could it be, its pretty loud!

The heat shields cause rattling issues on the HB's as do the timing chains but they mostly make noise at lower rpms unless the slack guide is completely gone. Check the heat shields on your exhaust then if it persists check your clutch fan to make sure its tight(seen one come loose). Lastly pull your valve cover and look down at the timing chain to see if the guides are missing. peace.

thanxs!the timing chain had come to mind, but not the other items. id much rather have a loose heat shield than a timing belt.
