Hello everyone. This is a great forum and I've learned a lot from reading through some of the threads.

I had a ? about a noise I keep hearing that I think is coming from the trans. I have a 09, 3.5 coupe with the CVT. I only hear this noise after first starting the car and putting it in drive. Once in drive, I'll drive about 20 yards or so and I'll hear a thud noise and I can also feel it. It's most noticeable at slow speeds and seems to be coming from under the car and I can really feel it in my foot that's on the gas pedal when it happens. It seems to happen at different rmps and different speeds.

If I put the car back in park and then put it in drive again this thud does not happen again. But if I shut the car off and restart it and then put it in drive the thud will happen again and then not recur again until I shut the car off again. The rest of the time driving the trans shifts perfectly.

It almost sounds like somethings clicking in place. Is this normal? does anyone else with the CVT hear or feel this? It's been doing this from the 1st day I had the car so I don't know if it's normal or not. I got the car with 3500 miles on it as a demo.

btw this isn't the door auto lock that I'm hearing and feeling. The auto lock usually happens shortly after this 1st noise.

What you are hearing/feeling is the Anti-Lock Brake Self Check ... This is normal.

Yea its probably the ABS check. However strange I have had mine since Nov. 07 and have never experienced that!
