noise coming from dash

I have 1990 300z n/a it has a motorized noise coming from dash area/front of car i need to know if this is normal if not whats wrong with it.

Ive heard of this issue before I just can't remember what it was, try searching around because I'm positive there's a thread on it.

when does it happen? possible like an ac mode door actuator if its an auto ac car....

It happens at random times when the a/c is off

There is a small fan where the map lights are, check that out. I had the same issue and swore it was from the dash, ended up being that little fan making a ton of noise. Disconnected and noise is gone.

That fan in the map light assembly is the temperature sensor for the ACC (Automatic Climate Control.) If that is disconnected, the ACC will have inaccurate readings on interior temperatures and won't blow the right temperature air.
