Just purchased a 1990 240SX from a one owner with 160k miles. Manual transmission. The prev owner (female) was changing oil etc but let the car get away from her, suspension etc although the interior is pristene. There is a howling noise that resinates throughout the car at speeds between 30 and 60 while in any gear and it seems to go away when you get the car to hwy speeds (+70). At first I thought it might be in the 3rd member but it seems to be fine as when I lift, the noise doesn't change or deminish. Can it be bearings, brakes, CV's???
It is my intention to throw some money at the car in an attempt to get back to fresh. Any advise would be appreciated. I've owned a 240Z, 260Z and 280Z in years past. Gotta love the little independant susp and the balance of the car. After driving one again I feel sorry for those guy's that drive tail draggers.
Ps. Where are all the good tune-up parts without going to dealers? thanks again...Bill in South Texas
