You dont weld it you TAP it.Which means you just thread your oil pan and screw it in.

I personally dont feel the oil pan is thick enough to tap very well, its a relatively thin gauge steel and I dont think getting one thread to grab is adequate. Perhaps if you tapped an appropriate sized NPT fitting into it then brazed it in there it would be more secure, I really dont know. The best way is still to pull the pan and have it welded on.

I know thats how you're supposed to do it cause its in the instructions for the aftermarket braided oil feed/return hoses for my vr-4. But that auction looks a little weird, oil return for what car? It looks like universal T3 T4 turbo, I would be very worried about the hose not being long enough.

the hose is 16". oil return lines, at least on all turbo cars i have seen, are much shorter. but, the hose is between 3AN and 4AN, way too small for a return line, IMO. i heard these things acutally work pretty well. but, i have to get my DP welded anyway, so i'll just bring the oil pan with me. it'll only be a couple more dollars.
