crank is forged, rods are def. not! the main problem that ka's have is bearings and rods. my machine shop is the one that told me that the crank is forged.... and none of them could give a s*** if its nissan, honda chevy, so they are completely unbiased. the said the forged cranks are a pain to work on, and that forged cranks are actually not all that uncommon. i actually changed to the sr after blowing up two diff ka's. after all the money i dumped into my sr, i should have just built the ka.

I don't know whether the rods are forged, but I know they must be pretty damn strong. I knew a guy in Gainesville that made around 500hp on stock KA internals, he just kept blowing ring lands. Obviously, it wouldn't be strong enough to hold that much power daily, but they must be pretty strong to even do it once. I think he did end up bending a rod, but it was more likely due to pre-ignition than the amount of power he made.

That was painful to read. ;)

Here's the deal: First off, we've been here (240sx.org) since 1997, and actually started a few years before that. So, you'll be hard-pressed to find more / better info on the KA anywhere else.

Second: KA rods aren't forged. If you're building a KA for boost, forged pistons and rods are a must.

Third: There's TONS of high-hp KA-T's running around. The SR guys used to have an advantage - not anymore.

Stick around, do a lot of reading in our KA-T forum... here's my build (the engine build is the part you want to read: http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/nico-p ... art-7.html )
