Here's my whine:

I bought my G35s at a dealer 2 hours away, 'cause the local shops were jerking me around on price and availability (NO 6MT's without Nav?).

When I ask the nearest local guy (2 miles away) if I can get a loaner he says no because I didn't buy my car there. They don't participate in the "Total Ownership Experience". Their loaners are only for people who bought their cars at that shop.

The next closest dealer (25 miles away) does participate and has a loaner with my name on it next week. The problem is, I don't want to be running 25 miles to service my car every time I need a loaner.

Here's my question:

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to convince the local guy to give me a loaner so I can drive myself to work to pay his service bills?

no, i don't and I have zero sympathy for you. my nearest authorized repair shop (non infiniti) is 80 miles from me. My nearest dealer is 223 miles from me. so no sympathy here. Sorry for being harsh but 25 miles is nothing, I got 20k on my sedan and I bought it 5/03/03

I CANNOT believe any Infiniti dealer would treat a customer that way?!?!?! Is there an escalation, customer service, area manager, etc?

The dealer near me allows me a free (new Infiniti) loaner as long as I schedule in advance. And I didn't even by my used car from them.

The Brass can't be happy with what you're seeing. What would they do if you bought the car in NY or NJ or TX or anywhere and moved?

Thats outrageous.

They owe you a loaner regardless of where you bought your car.Its part of teh Infinti warranty arrangements.

Probably some hard feelings left over from losing the sale.

The strange thing to me is that everything I read indicates that the dealers make a majority of their money on the service side of the house. Why would the dealer give up the more profitable side of their business just because they lost the less profitable business. I know the answer, spite, but that's not a profitable rationale. I would hope that the dealer without the loaners will go under, as Infiniti is much less valuable without the Total Ownership Experience IMHO.

vq35de: I feel for you. That's gotta suck.

The rest of you, thanks for getting righteous with me. I think I'll tell them I'm a wealthy but gullible man who knows nothing about cars. That should make them drool.

I'll probably call and seek attention from someone above the service guy. If that doesn't work, I'll try Infiniti Consumer Affairs (thanks Jesda).

I'll let you know how it goes.

Go to the dealer that treats you right. Don't fight with a lousy dealer. Dealers can do what they want and corporate can't make them give loaner cars to everyone if they don't want to buy enough loaner cars.

All dealer loaner policies are different, always have been, always will be.

I think that's a load of crap too, BUT as far as profitablity, I have to wonder if warranty work is as profitable as non-warranty work. Do dealerships make $100/hr + retail parts from the manufacturer? I doubt it.

Guess I'm a little late on this, but what the guy at your local dealer told you was crap.

I bought mine at Infiniti of Nashville and go to school in Knoxville. Knoxville always gives me a loaner, no questions asked, no matter what my car is in for.

Time to call up Infiniti corporate for sure.

I feel this dealer needs to get an "attitude adjustment" from several people to the consumer affairs or simply email this link to them, copied in wordpad or something like that.

Of course, 25 miles is not far to drive but the point of sale is....you should have the same high quality service at =any= dealership. What if you were out of town?

I think they are simply being a-holes because they subscribe to "the old school ways" of doing biz. I'd report tham, honestly.

I do not think consumer affairs would take kindly to this...but now this is known, it might give carte-blanche to fuk up your car as well.

I hate bad attitudes.

Dude, the Infiniti customer service guys are so driven right now to satisify customers you can totally fry this dealership. Make one good call or send a letter and you'll have a free loaner car for the rest of your warranty period. Just make the call, it will happen. Nissan actually was always good about this, but Infiniti is very focused and will make the dealer do the right thing.

Infiniti is rated #1 for customer satisfaction because most dealers treat people with respect. Luxury car competition is insanely heavy these days, oddly heavier than the economic boom times of the 90s. I wouldnt be surprised of you made some progress calling consumer affairs. Be persistent.

And Bommarito Infiniti kicks butt!
