So my car has no torque whatsoever anymore (been like this for a couple years now) and i have been trying to figure out why, when i got it i could spin the tires easily, now even if i power brake it to 2500rpm and let off the brake not even a squeak. so here is a list of what i know is fine maf, tps, injectors are good resistance wise, i have run seafoam through the gas regularly tho so i dont think they are dirty, fuel pressure, oxygen sensor, spark plugs, plug wires, rotor/cap, and compression. the only problems that i know of are the infamous timing chain rattle, and a front oil seal leak. the only mods are a cold air intake, test pipe, and high flow exhaust (i was young when i put that crap on :p). Any ideas on what the problem could be? its an automatic btw.

have you changed tires/rims since then? tires make a big difference in being able to spin the tires w/ an auto from a standing start.

Other than the "let off the brake not even a squeak", does it drive normally otherwise? Does it feel physically slower, any difference in how the automatic transmission shifts?

I have new tires, but thats not it because it was the same when i had bald tires. the car still gets up and goes just fine around the 3k - 3.5k rpm range (not entirely sure where the power band kicks in ill have to take note of it) the transmission shifts a little rough when driving respectably not very rough, just a verrrrry slight bump, however it shifts without any shift-shock if i put the pedal to the metal. -edit-could the timing chain have jumped a tooth somewhere or something, and would the car still idle fine if so, and also, could the test pipe/high flow muffler have that much of a dramatic effect on the torque.

The test-pipe/hi-flow "shouldn't" have a negative effect, but could have possibly moved the power band further up, giving you less low-end. However, that's been discussed on this board quite a few times, and results vary (most ppl's butt dyno's say they lost low-end, some people have dyno charts saying other wise - gains across the board). You could put your old stock exhaust back on if you have it or borrow a friend's...

You could check your timing to verify that it is still stock.

Short of a full tune-up & dyno session to see what your new numbers are to see if you really lost any power (of course it'd be all relative), the only thing I could think of is to check your transmission fluid.
