Reason being is cause my vented hood kinda hit's the 26 front cover but i'm in the process if making some adjustments to have it clear so i'm just wondering the goods, mostly the bads with having no front timing belt cover on, i know there are some reasons it's bad, but has anyone 'actually' had a bad experience with this? thanks

yay, good way to break a belt!then you can watch your engine destroy its self, its there for a reason after all.

It can't be hitting that bad..... just notch the cover a lil bit.

I would try putting some washers/spacers under the hood bracket and find a larger seal/weather stripping.

Since your going to have the top belt cover off. You'll probably have the lower cover on.and you'll have the vented hood.

Dirt, Water, random crap may build up in there. And I belive there is a rubber/caulk seal around the lower cover.Ewww :-P

Look on e-gay, they have a cheap clear plastic cover.Buy it and break out the heat gun to melt/distort it for clerance. It might work??

+1 lol... Use washers on the rear of the hood to slightly raise it. Also adjust your hood latch release where the front of the hood hits it all the way up. See if that helps. Then remove the sheilding off the bottom of the hood...

last case senerio depending on where its hitting you might beable to remove a bit of metal from the hood.... I dont really recommend doing this.... but its worth a shot.

Last option get rid of the cross member and get an AM mount kit.

Please don't notch the belt cover. That would 1) look ghey and 2) defeat the purpose of keeping dirt/dust/moisture from getting at your timing belt. The timing belt is the jugular of an engine so protect it. I would look at using washers to space the hood up a bit and then notching the under-hood bracing and insulation if that's not enough.

-vis carbon fiber hood with 1 vent that slopes inward toward the middle (part that hits)-there's no skeleton on the hood that hits a part of the timing belt cover, so no cutting-my mount brackets are slightly bent up from trying to get one side in and putting the other side in blah blahb alh yes i messed up but i'm fixing it right now so it should sit lower-then i gotta customize a transmission mount/crossmember so i should get some more room to play with since how i had it, still needed to be level when it was still slanted

I've never used the upper belt cover, no problems in 5 years. But since the hood "kinda" hits the cover I wouldn't remove it.

i have personally destroyed a head by not using a tbelt cover. bent all but 2 valves. i got lucky and found a complete head for cheap, but its not worth the risk.

if you break a belt, you can and most likely damage1.valves2.pistons3.valve seats (if you reuse your head)4.cams5.wallet

and youll need a new belt.

my suggeston is to just notch the underside of the hood. im sure there is enough space between the bracing and the skin that youll be fine.

ok guysdropped the 26 back in and it barely hits the scoop, probably like a millimeter away from hitting now, so it's all good now

saves me from getting hks cam gears and a hks timing belt(my plan if i couldn't get it to clear)but then again i just like how it says rb26

thanks for the input

I guess cool factor... my GReddy belt's so cool I wanna stare at it! lol but really with adjustable gears it would get real tiresome of you adjusted them often and had to remove the darn cover everytime I guess.

i'm using tophat mounts

yeah, i'll get it to fit and my motor still needs to settle down on the bushings.i could still adjust/tilt the transmission up more since i'm making a custom transmission crossmember/bracket as well
