So living in TX, I don't think I'll have a problem with my car getting warmed up....Keeping it cool however could be an issue. To remedy this problem, I want to know if I ran no thermo in the summer would there be any issues? I've heard a couple people running without one on older cars w/8cyl's and having no issues. I already have an aluminum Koyo rad, Altima fans, and FMIC, but I have never had my car here in TX for the summer yet. Is it risky?

Rosco, did you take out your thermostat? How did it turn out? Last year I installed a Koyo Radiator w/ Flex-a-lite fans and a 165 degree thermostat from AutoZone with 70% water and 30% coolant plus the RedLine Water Wetter, but this summer my SR is getting warmer and warmer. I live in Palm "Sweatin' Balls" Springs and I'm going to Flush and pour in new fluids and remove my thermostat. I also just purchased Samco hoses to finish it off. It just seems like $60-70 for a Nismo Thermostat is too much when you live in a hot climate, when it might be best to get rid of the thermostat.

If you remove your thermostat the constant up and down temperature shifts on the engine will result in a catastrophic failure of an internal part. It might happen in a week or in a year no one can tell you when but you are guaranteed that it will.

The Royal Purple info was for use at the drag strip not for everyday driving.

It isn't good. I've had mine going a week now without (can't get a good one that'll open properly) and the temp doesn't go up or down much but if you're in traffic and it goes up it doesn't like to go back down. I'm also running a Koyo Alum rad and e-fans. Does anyone know if Nissan or Nismo makes a high output waterpump?
