Car: 2006 White M45 Fully Loaded

Post

Hello All,

I just picked up a 2006 M45 that's loaded with every option available except the snow package.

It's still under factory warrantee, so I'm testing everything to make sure all is well.

So far the only thing I can't get to work is the CD Text. No matter what CDs I put in, the "Audio Text" is grayed out and pressing the left button won't go there. I loaded all six with different CDs and none work.

I tried several different brands of store-bought CDs, some Nero burned MP3s, Nero burned WPAs....they all just say "Track1,Track2" and so on and the grayed out button.

Is it possible there is a firmware upgrade for this unit?

My car is a 2006 model year, but the door sticker says it was built in 04/2005

Thanks,SM

Hello,While I cannot speak of your vintage, mine is a 2004, usually only Sony BMG pressed discs show up with CD text. Some Warner Bros. titles show up as well. This is true of my 400 DVD changer which maybe 20-25% of discs show up via text. The rest I have to manually enter with a keyboard. Imagine the fun. Shame our cars cannot do the same.Cheers,M.L

If it is a stock audo CD (conforming to the Red Book standards), there is no information on the CD that can be accessed and displayed. Most audio CD's still follow this standard.

You will have to find some audio CD's that have the newer CD text info standards on it and see if the problem persists.

And, of course, I do not really know if the 2006 models have this capability (to use the new CD standards and read the info, that is). But using the correct CD is important to begin with.

If ripping with Windows PC (say using media player) you must select data CD option rather than audio option (strange I know). If you do then you will see all the info in audi text (album, artist, song, etc.).

As stated above, not all CD's use indexing that will appear. I get about a third of purchased CD's to show text. However, if you rip on a PC you can just copy non-text CD's and burn as data CD and you will see info. Good luck.
