I thought I noticed the temp gauge getting lower and lower on the dial, but it's now winter time here in the northeast, so I didn't think much of it.Now the gauge does not move at all.I tracked some of the posts on the forums to help me track down where it's even located.I found two sensors screwed into the manifold right after the radiator hose connection. The front one a single wire and the rear larger one has two wires.I take it the temp sensor is the single wire sensor.I removed the wire and cleaned and also measured 800 ohms from sensor to ground when the car was pretty warm yet.The local auto parts store wants $34 for a temp sensor, but I am not sure that's the problem. All the other gauges in teh dash are working, so I don's think it's a fuse, unless it has it's own, but nothing is marked so.

Any help would be appreciatted.

thanks

Brian.

Yes, the entire car is functioning normally except for the gauge.

I neglected to mention I did pop the two wired sensor off and then I got a check engine light when I started the car.I put the wire back on and reset the ECU with what looked to be code 55.

Thanks, I ordered one from the dealer yesterday. For $15 even if it's not the source of the problem, it's elimintated before it goes to the dealer.I thought maybe some one would know if I could ground the lead to force the gauge full. I have like 10 volts from the wire to ground and did not want to risk it.

Not sure why this post keeps putting the same information in, I am not doing it. Anyway, I had my Nephew mechanic over and before we replaced the temp sensor, he said to ground the gauge, we did and the temp gauge shot up to high, so we replaced the sensor I purchased. It worked great after the engine heated up.

Thanks for all the help.
