I know this topics has been discussed before but it has never been resolved in any other posts, anyway the yellow and red wire which is suppose to be the tach signal is not working for me. The tach in my cluster does not work, which is a DOHC cluster, also i tried to get an aftermarket tach to work and i got nothing. Im just wondering what gives that wire its signal? or if there is anyone else with the same problem? Thanks alot.

Get a wiring schematic for the DOHC or SOHC, whicever you need, from the Nissan dealership, and find out which wire is for the tach lead from the ECU, and tap into it from there. If that doesn't work, locate the wire from the engine to the ECU and try that.

Its been a while since i've checked, but I believe the tach signal comes off of the CAS. What I would do is get a multimeter and check for continuity from the pin on the engine harness to the pin on the ECU plug. Also, did you make sure that you jumpered the wire to the dash connector?

I say check for continuity because many times people will put aftermarket tachs in and just chop the wire off at some point. If there's no continuity between the engine side plug and the ECU harness plug, you know that somewhere between the two, the wire is cut.
