Welcome to NICO.

Sorry that you are having this problem. I don't know if we will be able to diagnose the problem ... but I will ask some questions:

1. What are the exact symptoms? When you push the button, does the starter motor turn the engine or not - does it crank?

2. Or does it act like a dead battery? I.e., no electrical stuff working at all?

3. What has the dealer tried so far? I.e., what did he say was the specific thing they fixed for each of those four repairs?

4. What have you tested to see if the battery is in good condition? Is it new? Does a jump-start work from another car work when this symptom happens?

Thanks for your care,I answer your questions.

1.When I push the button and the brake pedal depressed, the starter motor does not turn the engine ,the 'KEY' light come on .

2.No,the car has electrical power,it is nomal.

3.The dealer changed lots of parts such as,ECM module, intelligent key module unit,BCM I-KEY register and so on. But no use!

4.The dealer never tested the battery, untill today they doubt the battery' condition, the test result is "the battery is not in good condition.

5.The odd thing I have to say is "Every time, when my car is towed to the dealer,my car can be started!"

6.my car is 2007 m35x,it is new car, from May to December this year,NO START ERROR had happened 5 times!

My only guess is a bad starter motor (assuming the battery is indeed in good condition) or poor connections to it - this is a complete guess though.

FWIW, I would suggest replacing the battery first anyway (may have been a bad one or has a bad cell in it) and then see if the problem recurs ... then, try getting them to replace the starter motor if all else has been tried.

My M45 just had a start-up issue tonight. I just got it back from the dealer for service (oil change, alignment and Driver side mirror reverse actuator issue)... When I got home I couldn't open my garage - The Homelink System isn't responding. In my attempt to reprogram it, I left the lights (HID), radio, etc., on battery power (not acc) with the engine off (as per the manual)

I noticed after 20 minutes that maybe I should start my car and charge up the battery but it wouldn't start. The starter would just click really really fast (about 15 times) and the engine wouldn't crank over... I tried turning off all the lights to see if it would help, but nope. I finally gave up and told myself I would jump start my car in the morning but just tried again before going to bed and it started... About 4 hours later.

I hope you can get your problem fixed! If the battery is good you should be able to play the radio, honk the horn, turn on your headlights, etc. like me, but I couldn't tell that I wasn't able to start the car... All accessories were just fine - Usually, in my honda, the lights would be dimm, the horn doesn't sound right (low power), radio wont turn on... weird that my M acted like this.

Not sure if it was the battery or some other issue. My car is a 2006 and I've never had the battery changed... Does any know if its about time and has anyone had a similar experience?

Regarding the Homelink - I read in another topic here that a fuse could be the culprit... My homelink buttons are not responding at all... I've held the 2 end buttons and waited about 3-5 minutes at one point making sure I keep a firm hold on it and it won't blink to allow reprogramming....????

I have noted that even if the battery is good enough to turn on the lights, honk the horn, play the radio, etc., it may still not have the cranking power to get the engine started.

Sometimes, the starter motor will crank, the engine will act like it wants to get going, etc., but the current draw makes the voltage drop low enough that it does not want to start right up. This has happened to me before. The cure was simple: change the battery and the car came back to life completely normally.

It seems like the Nissan/Infiniti battery in our cars will last about 3 to 4 years under normal conditions. In my case, the first battery went about that long. The Infiniti dealer replaced it for me, with proration to reduce the price (since it did not go the length of the warranty) to about $80 or so (as I recall ... post is in here somewhere). Free labor and flat-bedding my M to the dealership.

Cool, thanks for the reply! I got scared for a sec... i thought that something else might be wrong since the homelink wasn't working either... I guess I didn't expect my car to act up and not start up. Its cool that I was able to start it after a few hours though, I didn't expect that either.

My car is still under 60k/4yrs so do you think I'd be able to get a "discounted" battery? If not, is there a better battery I can get? I usually get Optima for my Honda but I'd rather have reliability vs. cranking power (unless Optima has both).

I heard Die-hard Gold or Platinum comes highly recommended... What do you think?

Well, I am not absolutely certain that the battery is the issue with your car, but I strongly suspect that it is. I hope I am right ...

You should check with the Infiniti dealer to see what length of battery warranty is left and what he would charge for the prorated replacement.

The Nissan/Infiniti battery is good, but there are plenty of other good ones on the market too. Something from the Sears Diehard, Optima or Interstate line should work well, as long as it has the correct fit and CCA cranking capacity. Replacing the battery is a pretty straightforward task.

BTW, there are people here who like the Optima battery a lot. I have no experience with them myself though. Consumer Reports likes the Diehard and Interstate line as I recall.

have you check all your ignition cables? make sure theres is no loose connections going to the engine. do a visual inspection under the hood to make sure nothing is wrong. i doubt the starter motor would go bad in this early stage. make sure the car is producing a spark. dont know what else i could think of right now lol

Hmmm..I'm having a similar issue with my '06 M45.

Go to start the car one day, and nothing by rur, rur, rur, and then silence. WTF? The interior lights all work fine. LAst week, I jumped started the car and took it to a dealer. They checked the battery, starter and alternator, and they all checked out fine. They have no idea why it wouldn't start. I left unsatisfied. I go to start my car today, same rur, rur, rur, silence. I'm going to try and leave it with another dealer a few days and see if they face the same starting issues.
