The engine cranks over fine, replaced the spark plugs, but I think the engine isn't getting any fuel, replaced the fuel filter...but it doesn't seem to be pumping....I unhook the line right after the fuel filter and put it into a gas can to see if it would pump..and it isn't...so now I think it's my fuel pump....any reccomendations as to how to check to make sure the fuel pump is working???(without taking it out and replacing it)

I think you're just going to have to take it out and replace it.Since everything else has been repaired by you, I don't thikn it would be anything else anyways.

Where is it at...right under the hatch I'm assuming?...what do you do to change it?...how do you keep from leaking gas everywhere?

A $40 fuel pressure gauge can be used to check the fuel pump pressure. To relieve gas pressure in the system, pull the pump fuse. Crank the car several times. Disconect battery. Open the gas cap. On the tank you'll have a couple fittings probably, and 1 should be vent and the other should be fuel. If the 1st one you disconnect leaks fuel, close it back up and disconnect the other one first. This will get most but not all the fuel out of there. Keep towels around where fuel might leak out.

if you can find the pump's wire, run a 12v source to the pump and if it's working you should hear a whinning/pumping noise.

If the car won't start, have you already checked for spark? Yes I know you are not getting any fuel, but it is very important to make sure you have spark.

As far as the fuel pump, it could be the wiring, the pump, the relay, or the ecu. You can check for power to the pump by following the harness to the pump and checking it as close to the tank as possible. If you have power, then it is a bad pump. If you do not have power, then it could be several things.

heh...i just took it out after school today to test it..it worked fine when i connected 12 volts to the actual contacts on the pump....but it didn't work when i would connect it to the power source so i unsoldered and resoldered the connections and now the pump works fine...total cost: 0.00$(well..new fuel filter, and spark plugs..but those weren't fixing the problem..just extras :)

The car wouldn't start this morning....I took out the fuel pump...cleaned it up...and it ran again...then just slowly gets worst, and probably won't start tommorow morningsymptoms: Random very short cuts...like the car is tottally missing....happens at all rpms in all gears...very weird....almost like the mixture is off....I am going to change the spark plugs tommorow(just to make sure it's not them)...but I'm pretty sure nothing will change when I put them in(just need to get some ngk's instead of these cheapos)......any suggestions...could it just be the fuel strainer getting clogged up and everytime i clean it with water it works fine?....if that doesn't fix it tomorow then I am off to buy a new fuel pump..100 bucks down the drain-

ahhhhhhh...ok..it's back..and ten times as bad.....what how do i test if it's the pump or the injectors cutting out.....i'm steadily accelerating and the car just misses....can you just take the injector out to test it??...could it be a totally clogged exhaust-
