Ok so I've bought a vert with a bad transmission, did my 5 spd swap which took forever due to getting ripped off twice on zilvia.bs.net.. ANYWAY here's what I can tell you.

- It has fuel
- It has fire
- It had compression
- Timing is good
- I hate this car
- It WILL idle WITHOUT the fuse for the fuel pump
- If its idling, and I put back in the fuel pump fuse. it dies.
- Every time its idling and I give it any fuel (w/ no fuel fuse) it dies.

A couple things come to mind... Did you do any head work? I can't recall if the lifters are hydraulic, but were they bled? If they're leaking down, you're getting no compression.

Are you using the fuel pressure regulator? If it's bad, it could be overpressurizing (flooding).

Is your oil full of gas? Do a drain and refill and check. If so, ^ that'd make sense.

Compression test might be in order.

Fuel pump relay might cause similar symptoms.

the oil is still clean, and no head work was done. It ran before I did the swap... I just replaced the fuel pressure regulator, it helped to the point of itll start everytime now... but it wont idle... getting closer I guess. so I guess now I have to worry about that lol

Man oh man after months of crap that this car has given me, finally a break. And all in one night. I've got it started, and runs decent, but wont idle. So I guess i'm done with this tread and I can figure out the next problem on my own, however I know if I cant I can count on my nico family.... unlike other sites  Thanks for your help Hitman.

Right on. I had one go bad and it made me crazy.

Check your IACV now.

Also, your MAF.

Do you have the FSM for your car? If not, let me know.

p.s. They suck, we rule. :gapteeth:

Ok so tonight I took it for its first 5 spd drive. :yesnod So I replaced the fuel pressure reg, and cleaned the iacv which made all the deference in the world. She idles and purrs like a kitten, except for the timing chain rattle. I'll work on that tomorrow, good thing there's a guide for that here too.

And I knew that from the start! You'll never catch me rockin one of their shirts like you will see me in my Nico shirt. WooWoo. lol
